The Road
A tiger and the jeeps · Ranthambhore · 9 April 2026 · 4:27 to 5:03 pm
At 4:27 in the afternoon a tiger was lying in the shade at the edge of a forest track, and every jeep in the zone had stopped where it was. Nobody could go forward and nobody wanted to go back.
It washed, rolled over and slept for half an hour with a line of vehicles on either side. Then at 5:03 it stood up, looked down the road at all of us, and walked across in front of the jeeps as if they were part of the forest. This is the Ranthambhore that most pictures crop out.
